Our Story

How we got started

Paul didn’t really set out to become a Handyman, he saw a need for his expertise. Previously, when employed as an Electrical Engineer, he was frustrated being a cog in a machine and yearned to work to his full potential. He left the position and decided to concentrate his efforts in real estate. He purchased a house and started to renovate it full-time. Whilst renovating the house he was shocked at the poor quality and unreliability of local contractors. Quickly, he realized the shortage of reliable, skilled, honest workers in the Sarasota area.

Paul knew he could do better! So he decided to start his own handyman business in 2017, offering high-quality services. Initially planning to continue to renovate the property and do a Handyman business alongside. However, the business took off much faster than expected. Paul’s schedule filled in a matter of weeks. Being very professional, turning up on time, and doing what he says he’s going to do is a huge hit with customers. Paul loves being “The Handy Brit”.

In 2018 Paul expanded the business as additional handymen joined The Handy Brit Family. By 2020, Paul’s wife, Alisa, retired from education after serving 25 years as a classroom teacher, school librarian, Lower School Coordinator and finally 10 years as a principal in Sarasota County. Alisa now runs the office while Paul leads the team. Together, they enjoy running the company, raising their four children and making a difference in Sarasota and the surrounding communities.
